Fred Edward Dowell of Detroit, Michigan, was born on March 8, 1944, to the late, John James and Hattie Mae Dowell in Lebonon, Tennessee. He made his transition on February, 7, 2026. He was also preceded in death by nine siblings; Louise Williams, Myrtle Roger, Jimmie Lee McCloud, Hazel Polk, Willie Mae Miller, Tressa Powell, Lucretia Dowell, Christin Overton, Larry Dowell and grandson; Kelsey Daniels,
The family moved to Pontiac, MI., when Fred was nine months old. He received his education through the Pontiac School System, he gained employment at Noble International Plant in Detroit, MI., retiring in 2010 as a Union Steward.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories; his wife; Mary Dowell, his children; Anthony Dowell of Coldwater, MI., Felicia (Gerald), of Pontiac, MI., Fred Dowell, Jr., of Flint, MI., Chris Adams of Pontiac, MI., Edwin Sullivan of Pontiac, MI., Yolanda Dauy of Milwaukee, Tonya (Annex) Adams of Georgia, siblings; James (Earline) Dowell, Jr., of Pontiac, MI., and Cleo Allison of Bloomfield Hills, MI. Sister-in-law, Mary Yates of Detroit, MI., Brother-in-law's; Arthur Taylor of Detroit, MI., Robert Charles Taylor of Montgomery, AL., and Raymond Taylor of Fayetteville, 26 grandchildren, one great-great-grand and a host of nieces and nephews.
Fred will lie in repose on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Cobb's Funeral Home. Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will start promptly at 10:30am. Internment will follow immediately after the service at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
