Mr. Fred "Pop/Pops/Poppa" Lafayette

Mr. Fred "Pop/Pops/Poppa" Lafayette, age 85 was born on February 25, 1940, transitioned to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday July 27, 2025. Son of  the late Mr. James Lafayette and Mrs. Mary Lafayette. Beloved Husband of forty-three years to the late Deaconess Mrs. Bernice J. Lafayette. Survived by his daughter Karen M. Russell and son Fred Russell (Sharon), grandsons Barron J. Russell and Rashad J. Russell and great grandchildren Isaiah L. Russell and Jael M. Russell. Brother of Leroy (Carol), Eddie, Sammy and Larry Lafayette, Edna Newsome and Lillie Moore and the late Rev. Roosevelt Lafayette Sr., Gable Lafayette, Eola Moore and Elenore Lafayette. Cared for/Just like a Father to Melvin J. Jones (Franchesca), Jimmy L. Jones Jr. (Monique), and Jessica Jones-Brooks (Isaac). Godson Elijah "Stevin" Stevens, Jr. (J’Nay), Goddaughter Je'Shayla Mathers and late Godson Roosevelt Lafayette, Jr.. Brother-in-Law to Pastor Gertrude Stevens (Elijah), Minister Shirley Welch, Mildred Jones, Rev. Jimmy L. Jones, Sr. (Marilyn) and the late Uguster Jones and Joe L. Jones, Sr.. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, Officers and Members of Israelites Baptist Church, Deacon Board, Sunday School, Monday Night Prayer Line and Come Just As You Are Bible Fellowship Crusade Ministry "A Living Church" in Severn, Maryland, Wings of Faith House of Prayer in Marrero, La., Ephesian Baptist in New Orleans, La., Law Street Baptist Church, New Orleans, La. and New Salem Baptist Church in New Orleans, La. are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Israelites Baptist Church, 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd,  New Orleans, La, 70113 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Rev.
