Frederick John Bareis, Jr., loving father, husband, grandfather, and uncle, passed away at age 84 on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in Roseville California.
He was born October 1, 1937, in San Francisco where he lived with his mother, Nora and father, Frederick, Sr., and two sisters, Jeanine and Marlene. He was raised in the Lutheran Faith with his family.
After attending San Francisco Polytechnic High School, he joined the Naval Reserves. He served two years in the Navy on the USS Tulare where he received a commendation for his service as a Winchmen. He was honorably discharged on December 14, 1961.
During his first marriage with Jeanie, they had two daughters, Laurie, and Wendy, and raised them in San Francisco Bay Area.
With his second wife Judith, they had a daughter, Natalie, and raised her in the Sacramento area.
He trained to be a butcher in his father’s butcher shop, the F & G Pork Store, in the Mission district in San Francisco. He took pride in his work and continued to use these skills even after leaving San Francisco.
He loved sports cars, sailing in his sunfish, and his home team the 49ers no matter how many games they lost. Lake Tahoe was his favorite place to be in nature.
In addition to his three daughters, he was very proud of his six grandchildren, Jason, Haley, Kyle, Craig, Jordan, and Eric.
Fred was a true gentleman, a man of few words and a gentle heart. He had a thoughtful and steady presence with all around him.
In the months before he died all his daughters and grandchildren were able to be with him. He felt everyone's love and care for him even at the very end.
After seeing his close family, he passed away following a long struggle with vascular dementia.
Fred is survived by his wife, Judith, daughters Laurie Albano, Wendy Warren and Natalie Bareis, grandchildren Jason Warren, Haley Albano, Kyle Warren, Craig Albano, Jordan Warren and Eric Albano, and son-in-law Joe Albano.
