'Sorry to hear of Freddie's passing. We have some really great memories (and a few pictures) of when Freddie helped with our garage on Pt Peninsula. He was quite a "chip-off-the-old-block" and will be missed terribly.

So sorry to hear about Freddie - I have so many fond memories of him as a child with Steve........He was a great son and loved his family so much.

Frederick P. McDermott Jr., 51, Dexter, passed away Sunday, May 24, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, where he had been a patient briefly.Calling hours are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Born Nov. 10, 1963, in Watertown, a son to Frederick and Patricia Denny McDermott, he graduated in 1981 from General Brown High School. Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1984. Fred worked for many years at STAT Communications, retiring in 2004 due to disability. Fred was a huge fan of many sports teams: Oakland Raiders, Montreal Canadiens, LA Dodgers and Syracuse University. He loved the time he spent with his family and beloved dogs at the cottage, and watching the beautiful sunsets there. Most of all, Fred loved being Kallie's #1 Dad; she was his pride and joy. Fred married Tracy Jo Howland on Oct. 17, 1998, in Watertown. He is survived by his wife, Tracy; his daughter Kallie; his mother and step dad, Patricia and James Perdix; a sister and brother in law, Amy & Chris Fiorentino; a brother in law, Tod Howland; and his nephew John Todd Howland. He is also survived by several aunt's, uncle's and cousins. He was predeceased by his dad, Frederick P. McDermott; maternal grandparents, James and Gertrude Denny; paternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth McDermott and his mother in law, Ruth LaForty. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in his name to the Brownville American Legion, PO Box 50, Brownville, NY 13615, or to the Town of Brownville Fire District, PO Box 2, Brownville, NY 13615.
