Fredrick Lee Manwill, lovingly known as “Freddy,” passed away at the age of 83. A longtime resident of West Pittsburg, California. Freddy lived a full life marked by kindness, humor, and devotion to those he loved.
Freddy spent many years caring for his mother, a role he embraced with dedication and love. He also had a lifelong passion for K9s, forming deep bonds with the dogs who were his loyal companions through the years. His love of animals was well known to all who knew him, and the joy he found in their company was a defining part of his life.
He was a father to his children, Sandy (Brad) Shonkweiler of Esterville, Iowa; Freddy Manwill Jr. of Dubuque, Iowa; Russel Collingsworth of San Ramon, California; Jason Collingsworth of Palm Beach, California, and Patty Whittaker of San Luis Obispo, California. Beloved brother to Mark (Lynn) Manwill of Antioch, California, and Cherie Benevides of Hawaii. He also leaves behind countless grandchildren & great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Freddy was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Manwill Jr., his mother, Estelle Elsa Manwill, his sister Suzette Mae Manwill, his brother David Gary Manwill, and his sister Yvonne Elise Manwill.
Freddy was known for his big heart, steady presence, and ability to make those around him feel seen and valued. His family, his care for others, and his unwavering bond with his dogs stand as his lasting legacy.
He will be remembered not only as a father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, but also as a man whose laughter, devotion, and warmth touched everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service to honor Freddy’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pittsburg. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord. The family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating the life of a man so deeply loved and dearly missed.
