Not sure what to say?

To my grandpa, I remember sitting as a young child behind him on the chair as I would brush his hair until gpa would fall asleep. I remember all the practical jokes gpa played on gma. Remember that stupid bird oh he loved gpa especially when gpa taught it to say freeze sucker and would dive bomb gma and gma would yell thomas. Gpa you were my greatest hero and example. I am truly blessed to have been you grand daughter. I love you so much. Thank you for teaching us truly how to love. Your love...

Dear Lois, Dave and I loved the friendship we shared the years we were neighbors. Dave and Tom always had a good laugh together! We are sad to hear of his passing. With love, Linda and David Watters

Obituary

G. Thomas "Tom"'s Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, G. Thomas "Tom" Proctor, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Gig Harbor, Washington on March 13, 2014 due to the residual effects of a stroke he suffered several years ago while living in Utah. He was in his 86th year.

In his final hours he was surrounded by his loving wife and family members.  Tom was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to G. Thomas Proctor Sr and Mary Theresa Coffman.  He has one younger brother, Richard Phillip Proctor.  Tom attended school in the Los Angeles area and attended college classes at Cal State Los Angeles.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Naval Reserves.

As a young man, Tom met Lois Katherynne Elsebusch also of Los Angeles, California at a high school dance.  It was love at first sight.  Tom and Lois married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple on Nov. 20, 1948.  They have 5 children, 25 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Tom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many leadership capacities including Bishop, temple worker, High Councilman, and other ward and stake callings.

Tom followed his father's footsteps by spending a distinguished career as a policeman in the Los Angeles Police Department.  After his retirement from the LAPD he went on to other law enforcement assignments including the Superintendent of Idaho State Police.

His hobbies were numerous and included hunting, fishing, horsemanship and motorcycles just to name a few.

We are grateful for our knowledge of the Plan of Salvation given to us by our Savior Jesus Christ.  We know that our family patriarch has been taken home to a loving Heavenly Father and is now with his sweet daughter Bonnie Proctor (Golly), his loving parents and many other relatives and friends.  We also know that he is free from physical limitations and is enjoying these heavenly reunions.

Tom will be deeply missed and we long for the day when we, once again, will be reunited.

Tom's greatest joy was his family.  He is survived by his wife, Lois, of 65 years, Steve (Terri) Proctor, Deborah (Jerry) Spilsbury, Janice (Scott) Hartshorn, Susan (Doug) Nelson and his brother and best friend Richard Proctor. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law and daughter, Bonnie Lynn Proctor(Golly).

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers throughout the years for Tom. As well as the Idaho State Police for their participation in these services.
