Garry Stephen ProkopchukOctober 4, 1951 – November 21, 2025It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Garry Stephen Prokopchuk, age 74, on November 21, 2025 in Norquay.Garry was born on October 4, 1951 to Steve Prokopchuk and Anne (Cybak). Raised in Swan Plain, he was a true bushman from the start and walked countless miles in the forest that gave him knowledge of the woods and hunting that few others could match..In his younger years, Garry worked as a logger in the mountains of British Columbia. He went on to become a skilled cat operator for many years, plowing in underground power and fibre optic lines and loved running the Cat D8 K. He was an avid trapper, running lines for beaver, otter, mink, muskrat and lynx. His biggest passion was elk hunting, and he spent many years as a hunting guide with Skull Lodge Outfitters and Timberline outfitters. He also helped out as much as he could on the family farm. Some of his happiest times were spent hunting with his children, cousins and nephews.Garry is survived by his children Shelby (Krystal), Corissa (Matt) Johnson, and Tobin (Ashley); grandchildren Ava, Ashtyn, Brody, and Mackenzie; siblings Dianne (Jerry) Shelenko, Irene (Hal) Griffith, and Steven; also, Gladys Prokopchuk (sister in law); nephews Mitchel (Alyssa) and Murray (Courtney) Prokopchuk, who were like sons to him and were always there to lend Garry a hand.He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Wayne. As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral but will be a celebration of life at Big Horn Creek, his favorite hunting spot in the summer of 2026.
