Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked on a number of projects for Gary through my work, Carlton Machine & always loved when he came in. I knew there would be plenty of laughter & story-telling & especially enjoyed his racing antics. He always treated me with so much respect & never fussed about a woman working on his cylinder heads. This is a real loss, he was loved & enjoyed by so many. I'll be praying for his loved ones, may God ease your grief & hold you close.

Gary, John and their dad were the first people I met who ever worked on cars the way they did. I had a 68 Dodge Charger and a 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury 440 6-pack and a 75 Roadrunner. They worked on all of them I respected them so much. I am so crushed to hear of the loss of Gary. My prayers go out to the fenice family. He will truly be missed as a mechanic as a father as a grandfather and as a brother. I hope Heaven Knows whom they have received.

To the family of Gary I've known Gary for 40 years, he worked on my car many times, great personality and a dear friend of my late son, Doug, who worked with Gary many years. R.I.P, Gary. Sorry for your loss.

Gary Fenice , mister mopar who lived his life out the way he wanted, the 1/4 mile , my friend you'll be missed, your friend Glenn Larsen .

So sorry for your loss. Although I never met Gary, I heard many good things about him from my Mom, Mae Fransen. He took good care of her car problems and plowing her driveway during snowfalls. Truly a good neighbor and much appreciated.

Well.. a lot can be said about the good in Gary, the kind heart, the generosity to others in need, his love for the fellow man. He was that way as a teenager and I am sure he never changed. I assume he was one who gave good advice to his children also. Another name etched into my mind. Rest high on the hill Gary, your work is done on earth.

A great person. He was one of those persons that First in and the last one out! Worked hard at everything that he done. Praying for the family. Rest in peace friend.

Sending love and prayers to you and your family Maddy. May warm memories comfort you during this time of sorrow.

A Man with a big heart & big smile and he always gave a bear hug or a hand shake when we saw him. One of the best neighbors we had on the North Road!! Thank you Gary, for sharing your beautiful daughter Maddy with us as she became "one of the family!" Great memories were created! Rest in Peace young Man.

GARY's Obituary

Gary D. Fenice, 64, Moose Lake, died Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake with the loving presence of his family by his side.  He was born on October 9, 1954 in Saint Marys, PA to Arthur and Zita Fenice.  As a young child, he moved with his family to Columbus, OH and later Pickerington, OH where he graduated from high school.  Gary worked as an auto mechanic with his Dad and Brother John at J & A Auto in Pickerington.  In January 1984, Gary married Cindy Dockal.  During his time in Pickerington, Gary was a State FFA Officer, volunteer firefighter, paramedic, and city council member.  In 1991, they moved to Moose Lake and Gary later started Fenice Automotive which he operated until May 2019 retiring due to health reasons. Gary used his excellent mechanic skills, his charismatic personality, and the ability to talk and socialize with people to operate a very successful auto repair shop.  He loved drag racing, fishing, working on cars, Mopar, watching movies especially James Bond, camping with his kids, and did we mention he loved drag racing and working on cars.   Most of all, Gary cherished every moment he had with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters: Madeline (Ross) Stewart of Moose Lake; Veronica (Jason) Youngberg of Moose Lake; Jennefer (Mike) Rarey of Reynoldsburg, OH; and Heather (Brodie) Tomczak of Kettle River; seven grandchildren: Ethan Tomczak, Austin Tomczak, Landin Kurhajetz, Logan Tomczak, Ava Beer, Ana Beer, and Frances Stewart; step-mom: Carolyn Fenice of Columbus, OH; sister: Sandy (John) Betts of Forest Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Visitation and Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home.  There will be no formal service but rather a time to say goodbye, share stories, and do what Gary was great at: talking and socializing with friends.   Please also bring a written memory to place into a memory box sharing a great memory or story you have of Gary.  His family will cherish these forever.  Cremation will follow the visitation.  Memorials are preferred.

Blessed be the memory of Gary Fenice, a funny guy with a great smile who made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered by turning a stranger into a friend.  If someone asks why I’m missing, just let them know, I’m gone fishing!
