Gary A. Sinden
Eliot, ME – Gary A. Sinden, 73 of Eliot died Monday October 8, 2018 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1945 in Oswego, New York the son of George and Delphine (Dowling) Sinden.
Gary was a U.S. Marine veteran who served during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
The West Coast was home for Gary for much of his life; during this time he earned his Bachelor’s degree in
Psychology and was an avid sailor and motorcycle rider.
Most recently, Gary was the technology coordinator and substitute for the Seacoast School of Technology in
Exeter where he was well loved. Before he worked in schools, Gary was an auto mechanic which made him
always helpful to his family’s broken-down vehicles. Towards the latter part of Gary’s life he served as
Selectman in the town of Eliot and eventually served the greater area as York County Commissioner. In his free
time, Gary enjoyed traveling with his loving companion, visiting with his children, and spending time watching
the news with his cat.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, George and Delphine Sinden, and a brother, Christopher Michael Sinden.
He survived by members of his family including his partner, Roberta Stout of Portsmouth, NH; his son, Nathan
Sinden, and wife, Jessica Sinden, of Kittery, ME; his daughter, Emma Sinden of Biddeford, ME; their mother,
Ann Reddy of Dover, NH; his older brother, Peter Sinden and wife, Elaine Sinden of Florida; as well as
numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gary will be remembered every day, and formally by way of a celebration of life in the coming months.
