With love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Gene Henry Mota, who left this world on November 19, 2025, at the age of 74. Gene was born May 19, 1951 in Modesto California.
Those who knew Gene will remember his love for his family, generosity, kindness, love of the outdoors, craftsmanship, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Gene was a proud Mota. His family heritage meant a lot to him. You could feel his pride and love when he spoke of his family, their traditions and the many outdoor adventures he shared with those he loved.
Gene was the proud owner of Modesto Locksmith which he founded in 1982. Gene graduated from Modesto High in 1969. After graduating, he began his career as a locksmith at just 18 years old with Bill’s Safe and Lock. He spent over 55 years working as a skilled and trusted locksmith. His commitment to his trade and the community he served earned him the respect and appreciation of countless customers and friends throughout the years.
Gene found joy in the simple things—especially hunting and fishing, which brought him peace and many cherished memories that his loved ones will hold dear.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Bree (Bobby) Pearson and stepson, Jesse Miranda; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Stephanie) Pearson, Brandi (Zack) Majewski, and Henry (Diana) Pearson; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Matthew Pearson, Owen Pearson, Carson Majewski, Hank Pearson, William Pearson, Madilyn Pearson, and Paige Pearson. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Robert Mota and Audrey May Mota, as well as his brothers, Ralph Mota and Allen Mota.
Gene’s legacy lives on in the family he adored, the friendships he built, and the countless stories and memories he leaves behind.
To Honor Gene’s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes spread amongst Mt Reba, he insisted that there be no funeral services. You are invited to privately celebrate Gene’s memory in your own ways.
Services conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Patterson.
