A long and adventurous life has come to an end and a new journey beginning with the passing of Genovaite Sriubaite - Setikas, beloved Mother (Mamyte), Grandmother (Bobute/Bute), and Great-Grandmother (Pro-Bobute) on April 22, 2014 in Newington, Connecticut. Genovaite was born June 2, 1912 in Riga, Latvia to Lithuanian parents Narcizas Sriubas and Emilija Slamaite. She was forced to leave her beloved Lithuania with her young family in 1944 and immigrated to the United States in 1949. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Antanas Setikas and her children Vida, Vytautas, and Kestutis. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter Birute Nenortas and her husband Vytenis of West Hartford, CT, son Algimantas Setikas and his wife Deborah of Lake Ridge, VA, and daughter in-law Nijole Setikas of Darlington, MD. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - Paul Nenortas of Bolton, CT, Edmund Nenortas and his wife Asta and their children Adam and Kristina of Farmington, CT, Tomas Nenortas of Hartford, CT, Peter Nenortas and Christina Bechstein and their daughter Melu Nenortas of Portland, ME, Algis Setikas and his wife Angela of Wyckoff, NJ, Andrew Setikas and his wife Amy and their children Daniel, Megan, and Caitlyn of American Canyon, CA, and Laura Dyke and her husband Alan and their children Megan and John of Darlington, MD. She also leaves her cousin Dr. Richard Sriubas and his wife Marion, of Oxford, CT, children Andrew Sriubas and his wife Michelle and their children Paige and Alexander of New Canaan, CT, Elizabeth O'Donnell and her children Catherine and Brian of Framingham, MA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Connecticut and Lithuania. There will be no wake. Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 600 Liberty Highway, Putnam, CT. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 53 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106 or Sisters of the Immaculate Conception Convent, 600 Liberty Highway, Putnam, CT 06260.
