George, you stand relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation’s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.

George's Obituary

George D. Allen, 71 of Slatington, passed away on Tuesday, Dec 2, at LVHN Hospice after a battle with lung cancer. Born in Bethlehem Township, he was the son of the late David G. Allen and Mrs. Hermina T. (Mulzert) Allen, and husband of Sharon Letson-Allen of Slatington.

At the age of 18, George enlisted in the US Navy. After training as a Navy Seal, he then attended the DP Class “A” School then served at the Naval Security Station in Washington D.C. and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal.  He was last employed by Jetson Specialty Marketing Systems, Inc., Kutztown.

George was a devoted husband, He loved tinkering with his electric bikes and going for long bike rides with his schnauzer, Kiffle on the D&L Trail, as well as camping vacations at the beach as often as possible. He was a 1971 graduate of Notre Dame HS, Easton, PA.

Survivors: Wife, Sharon Letson-Allen of Slatington.; a daughter Colleen, formerly of Maryland; Sisters, Evelyn Peiffer of Auburn, PA, and Christine Lambert of Palm Beach, FL; Brother, Michael Allen of Easton, PA. He has 4 step-children, 8 step-grand children, 2 nephews, 5 nieces,5 Grand nephews and 6 grand nieces. He was preceded by his parents; siblings, Mark Allen and Irene Allen; 1 step grandaugter and 1 nephew.

Graveside services to be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Ackermanville UMC Cemetery, Ackermanville.
