George Ann's Obituary

George Ann Watson Redmon, of Florala, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on December 31, 1942, the beloved daughter of George Watson and Ella Mae Wallace Watson.

George Ann lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and memory. She came to know Jesus Christ early in life, a foundation lovingly instilled by her parents, and she carried that relationship faithfully throughout her years. Her love for the Lord was evident in her enjoyment of church, her devotion to gospel music, and the quiet strength of her character.

She was a woman of many simple joys and lasting gifts. George Ann loved drawing, especially scenes inspired by nature, and she found peace and purpose in crocheting. One of her greatest pleasures was getting in the car and driving to Gaskin, Florida—returning to the places of her childhood. These trips were more than memories; they were lessons. She didn’t just reminisce—she taught. She shared stories with her children about where she grew up, what life was like, and how values were shaped by family, hard work, and faith.

At the core of who George Ann was stood her love for her family. She was the proud mother of ten children, all of whom survive her—a rare and cherished blessing. She was known as an outstanding cook, and nothing delighted her more than preparing each child’s favorite dish whenever she knew they were coming to visit. In her kitchen, love was always on the menu.

George Ann was affectionately known as “Maw Maw,” a name she cherished and wore with joy. To her grandchildren and generations beyond, Maw Maw was warmth, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Redmon; her parents, George and Ella Mae Watson; her brothers, Billy, Ralph, Ray, and Doug Watson; and her sisters, Linda Grace Poston and Gladys Nowling.

She is survived by her sons, James Lavon Kendrick; Gene Kendrick (Patricia); George Kendrick (Robin); Glenn Wilson (Tracy); Jason Watson; Bill Watson (Jessica); and her daughters, Esther Kendrick; Patricia Kendrick; Loretta Lofton; Janie Williams and Robin Watson. She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Watson, and her sister, Virginia Sadie Bankich, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

George Ann Watson’s life was a testimony of faith lived out quietly, love given generously, and lessons passed down intentionally. Her legacy will continue in the lives she nurtured, the memories she shared, and the faith she modeled so well.

Funeral services for George Ann Watson Redmon will be 2PM Monday February 9, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home with Jimmy Watson officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Paxton Cemetery.
