Not sure what to say?

Geri, We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your father.

I grew up down the road from this wonderful family. Frank, and George were fun to be around. I was just thinking about George the other day. I'm very sad to here of his passing. My thoughts, and prayers are with the family.

Rest easy, George. You are so loved and your beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be forever missed! My Dad will be glad to show you around the best fishing holes in Heaven!
All my love!

His smile and laugh was contagious !

George was a cousin-in-law and a loving man. All our memories of him are laughing and loving. God bless the Bowen family.

Obituary

George's Obituary

George Joseph Bowen was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was born on January 26, 1947, to Constant Bowen and Roberta Plympton Bowen and received into the arms of Jesus on December 5, 2025.

George grew up in Laurel Hill, FL and later served honorably in the United States Navy for eight years aboard a submarine. He was discharged as an Engineman First Class.

His training in the Navy allowed him to work as a mechanic on large equipment and later on mobile medical units. There was nothing he couldn’t build, repair, or refurbish. He was affectionately referred to as a “George of all trades”. At 75 years of age, he took on a new job at Mohawk Valley Mining—he just could not “retire”. He liked being busy and on the go.

Over the years, George was most passionate about hunting and fishing. In his later years, he was happiest anytime he could “drown a cricket” out on his fishing boat.

George could tell a great story and laughed easily. He never met a stranger. He adored his family and friends and was happiest at any gathering that brought them together. He was generous, helpful, talented, and will be sorely missed.

George is survived by his three incredible children: George Anthony (Tony) Bowen, Geri Kathleen Pennington (Gary), Chelsea Marie Ward (Eric), and his eleven grandchildren: Trinity, Landon, Trey, Ava, Jackson, Grayson, Ryder, Ryan, Daxton, Carson, and Rhett.

He is also survived by his brother, Frank Bowen (Judy); special niece and nephew, Carla Strickland (Timmy) and Casey Bowen (Becky); and close friends Bailey, Calvin, Andy, Larry, Marcia, and Peggy. George had 4 great-nieces, 9 great-nephews, 5 great-grandnieces, and 10 great-grandnephews. His legacy is rich.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

There are many who will be mourning, but we will think of George as “gone fishing—where the waters are calm, and the day never ends.”

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
