Not sure what to say?

I have many happy memories of Earl serving as a youth leader and bishopric member while growing up. He was always so upbeat and joyful. His countenance shined with quiet faith. I’ll always be grateful for his influence on my life as a youth.

I worked with Earl at Sysco he had so much knowledge and was always willing to share it, he was a good. friend and will be greatly missed

We love you! Prayers constantly being sent your way from Louisiana

Oh we love Earl because of his kind, loving heart!

I first met Elder Britton in 1965 when he arrived in Norway for his mission and I was his District Leader. He was a humble, and devoted hard working missionary. I later became his brother in law. He was a great son, husband, brother, father and friend. His was a life full of service, fun, success and one well lived. God speed Earl!!

I served with Brother Britton in the Temple. He was a wonderful man and devoted servant of the Lord. He will be missed.

Thoughtful Prayers Standing Spray

George Earl Britton

September 27, 1945 ~ January 21, 2026

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Earl Britton.

The second child and first son of Branch and Erma Britton, Earl was born September 27, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in downtown Salt Lake.

As a child, Earl learned to love music and played the accordion. He learned to work and play, and to serve and pray. In his youth, he loved baseball and played on many little league and church baseball teams.

He attended West High School, graduating in 1964. He served a 2 ½ year mission in Norway where he loved the country and the people.

In the summer of 1968, Earl was test-driving his Corvette when he met Renae Larsen who was walking home from softball practice. They got engaged on the night of her high school graduation, June 4, 1970, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 7, 1970.

They purchased their first home in 1971, in Sandy, Utah, and moved in with their first daughter. The rest of their children were born while they were living there: 4 sons and one more daughter.

In 1984, the family moved to a larger home in South Jordan. They later purchased the house next door where he and Renae have lived for the past 15 years.

Earl’s career was with Sysco, a food distribution company. He worked his way up from the warehouse to become the top salesman. He was a good provider and taught his children how to work and how to play.

Earl enjoyed serving in the Church, especially being the deacon quorum advisor, an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple and ministering to his assigned families and to his neighbors. Together, He and Renae served a mission to Sweden. He had a strong testimony which he shared often with his family.

Earl was a happy man and fun to be around. His playful humor could tease a smile or laugh out of all of us. He was kind to family, friends and strangers alike and made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, biking, guns, going for walks, food storage and freeze drying.

More than anything he loved his family. He taught them, blessed them and prayed for them. He lived life to the fullest and was active to the end, biking and golfing weekly. His final bike ride ended abruptly when he had a serious accident on the Jordan Parkway Trail. His last few days were spent in the hospital giving time for family to gather around him.

In the spirit world he has joined his father and mother, his sister, Karen, and his brother Bob. He leaves behind his wife, Renae Britton, his children and their spouses, Lynette and Chad Cornaby, Jason and Jenni Britton, Justin and Tiffany Britton, Darron and Sonya Britton, Michael and Rachel Britton, and Sarah and Doug Marsh, 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. With all our hearts we look forward to being reunited with him as an eternal family.
