George was born and raised in Clinton, son of the late Edward T. and Theresa A. (Fitzgerald) Duchnowski. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1973, and he then attended Worcester Boy’s Trade. He began his professional career at Chaffin’s Plumbing in Holden before starting his own business. G.W. Duchnowski Plumbing & Heating was well known amongst Clintonians, a business he owned and operated for over 40 years. George was not just a skilled plumber but a man with a heart of gold. George was a cherished member of our community, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to both his family and his church. A lifelong and devoted member of St. John’s Parish, Clinton, his faith was only overshadowed by his quiet generosity. His kindness, humility, and love for others will remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew him. He was a cornerstone of the community serving as a member of the Clinton Zoning Board and was a Corporator at Clinton Savings Bank. A Red Sox season ticket holder for several years, he enjoyed attending games at Fenway with his family and friends, and also enjoyed attending countless high school sports games, especially those of his nieces and nephews. He also loved spending time at the track in Saratoga, NY, and on the golf course with friends. Yet, his biggest passion was fishing, especially in the Cape Cod Canal. His greatest joy was teaching proper fishing etiquette with underlying life lessons being the true purpose of the message.
The family would like to thank all members of the staff at UMass Clinton Hospital and UMass Memorial Worcester who loved and cared for George over the past several weeks.
George’s family will gather to honor and remember his life, beginning with calling hours on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton.
