George Robert "Bob" Snider, Jr.

George Robert (Bob) Snider, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 2, 2014 after a long illness. George Robert Snider, Jr. was born on May 15, 1927 in Marion County, IL the son of George Robert Snider, Sr. and Wanita Bell (Warren) Snider. He married Mary Ann Dobbs on May 10, 1953 and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2002. Bob is survived by his son George Robert Snider, III; one granddaughter; and three great-granddaughters all of Jacksonville, FL; sisters Bertha Hiatt of Jacksonville, FL, Beverly Bloom of Sandoval, Judy Carruthers of Vera, Nancy Snider of Patoka, and Carolyn Wadkins of Odin; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Vicki Straight; one son-in-law Rick Straight; two sisters Betty Rife and Donna Snider; four brothers-in-law Ed Hiatt, Bobby Bloom, Charles Wadkins and Roy Carruthers Bob was a former Illinois resident and had relocated to Florida in 1972. He was a Veteran of World War II. Throughout his life George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and Bluegrass gospel music, and especially spending time with family. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery by VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446. After the graveside service a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Patoka with Pastor David Rogers officiating. Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements where friends may inquire.
