St. Martinville ? Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for George Solomon, Sr., 82, who passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday.Rev. Augustinus Seran, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.Mr. Solomon enjoyed working in his garden and flowerbeds. He loved cooking and caring for his grandchildren and visiting with his friends and family, while providing them with his personal advice on life and sharing his good wisdom.George?s faith in God was strong ? he was a true believer, he called Him, Master. He will long be remembered for sharing his own personal proverb with everyone, ?I am the beginning and I am the end, before me there was none, after me, there will still be none.?He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Powleta Leon Solomon of St. Martinville; two daughters, Sarah (Walter) Calhoun of Baton Rouge, and Gloria (Shelton) Fiest of St. Martinville; his half-sister, Jo Anna Degray of St. Martinville; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Solomon, Jr.; his mother, Sarah Johnson Solomon; his son, George Solomon, Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Joyce Orphe Solomon.Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111), is in charge of arrangements.To view on-line obituary, sign guestbook and view video tribute, go to www.pellerinfuneralhome.com
