Lieutenant Castro was a great firefighter to work with. He had a fine personality and was fair to all. My condolences to the family and his close friends. Gerald will be missed. God Bless.

Gerald's Obituary

Gerald S. (Jerry) Castro, Sr., 80, of Pensacola, died Sunday, February 22, 2015, at West Florida Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center.Gerald was born December 11, 1934, to Ernest and Gladys Castro in Pensacola, FL. He attended local schools before joining the Navy. Following active service, he worked for the City of Pensacola and retired as a Lieutenant from the City of Pensacola Fire Department on October 31, 1984.Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arnold, Alvin, Joseph and Emory Castro; sisters, Isabelle Tolbert and Lucille Buzbee and his beloved grandson, Christopher Douglas.He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Pat (Larry) Douglas, Mike (Betty) Cutler of Mobile, AL, David (Carolyn) Cutler, Gary (Christina) Cutler, Steve Castro and Mike (Sharon) Castro. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Margaret (John) Hellriegel and Elaine Tarkowski and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jerry Passmore officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.Pallbearers will be the Honor Guard from the City of Pensacola Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Castro , Stephen Cutler, Mark Castro, Frank Tolbert, Randy Castro, John Dosh and Shane Templeton.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hadji Shrine Transportation Fund, 800 W.
