Gerald's Obituary

Gerald M. Jelens “Jerry”, age 89 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, February 9, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Carol. He is survived by his children Brett Jelens, Craig Jelens, Pam (Tim) Moore, Carla Jelens (Carlos Almanza); grandchildren Shawna, Tyler and Cole; sisters Delphine Siedlecki, Elizabeth Nowak; and many relatives and friends. Jerry was proud to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of Duck’s Restaurant on Michigan Ave. N.E., in Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 15, 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1935 Plymouth Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. The family will meet with friends and relatives one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Killgoar Foundation for IHM School.
