Not sure what to say?

I have always remembered Chaplain Saffel, even years after I left Ferguson. He always sang with such childish enthusiasm and joy: “He’ll be comin’ round the mountainRodin’ six white horses”. It breaks my heart that he’s passed, but I find joy in the knowledge that he now knows more than ever how proud his Lord is of his work and faithfulness in leading and mentoring so many inmates in prison. I will keep his family in prayer.

It was wonderful meeting you and your family. You were a gift that we shared by knowing you. Thank you for the kindness all of you shared with Lee and myself.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Gerald, Loved the Lord! He Loved his family & friends. He was loved by so many people. I was blessed to have known him. Heaven has gained a special man. God bless those who loved him. Pray that those who loved him will find peace & comfort in the arms of the Lord. May they receive strength & comfort to face the days ahead.

It has been a complete honor and privilege to know and serve Chaplain Saffel, he was a spiritual father to my husband and so many other men, God took a good one!

Thank you Chap Saffel for being the Light of Jesus to so many in a dark place... You were truly called and chosen to be the man of God we needed at Ferguson Unit.

The most awesome chaplain I ever had the blessing of being under as a TDCJ volunteer. Well done good and faithful servant.
