Obituary

Gerald's Obituary

Gerald L. Ulbrich, 85, of Guysville died Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2025 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta.  Born January 28, 1940 in Athens, he was the son of the late Clarence Ulbrich and Garnet Lucille Bowles Ulbrich.

A 1957 graduate of Athens High School, he retired after 26 years of service from the Athens Mental Health Center.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and NASCAR.  He was a member of the Fur, Fish and Game Club.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Turkey, England and Germany.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Ann Powell Ulbrich; three sons, Greg (Rachel) Ulbrich of Shade, Jon (Michelle) Ulbrich of Pomeroy and Kevin Ulbrich of Shade; four grandchildren, Bethaney (Zane) Carroll, Dustin (Emily) Ulbrich, Cale Ulbrich and Zach Ulbrich; four great grandchildren, Sophia, Kamden, Everynn and Violet; several step grandchildren; brothers in law and sisters in law, Ernie (Joann) Powell, Chuck Powell, Danny Powell, Paul (Cheryl) Powell and Martha Powell; and a lifelong friend, Carl (Louise) Brooks.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Chloe Ulbrich; a great grandchild, Acelynn Stoneman; a brother, Carl “Cotton” Ulbrich; a sister, Anita Ulbrich; and two infant sisters, Marilyn and Beverly Ulbrich.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Jon Hanning officiating.  Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.  Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
