Geraldine Dains, 93 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Marion, passed away surrounded by her family on January 9, 2026 at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with a Scripture Service beginning at 6:30 PM.
Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be directed to the Doughtery Hospice House or Prince of Peace Chapel.
Geraldine “Geri” Rose Dains of Marion SD passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Born and raised in Marion, Geri grew up surrounded by family, faith, and community. She was known for her joyful spirit, sense of humor, and enduring love for her family and friends.
Geri pursued a lifelong career in hairstyling, beginning at Stewart’s Hair at the Flair and later at The Stylist, where she brought skill, laughter, and care to everyone she met. She was always poised, with a Kleenex at the ready and her lipstick never far from hand, reflecting her attention to life’s little details and her unique charm.
A devoted Catholic, Geri sang in many church choirs, cheered on family in various sports and other events, and lived her faith with steadfast devotion. She enjoyed simple pleasures.
Geri outlived nine siblings, carrying their memories with her and honoring them through a life filled with love, generosity, and gratitude. She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the quiet strength that touched all who knew her.
Geri is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Geri is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Elizabeth; her brothers Alva (Vivian), Vernon, Kenneth (Rosemary), Earl Jr.(Elaine), Donald (Gwen) and Marvin(Helen); her sisters Darlyne, Nadine (Warren “Pat) Dirks, and Noreen “Dolly”(Eugene “Gene”) Ortman; nephew David Dains, nieces Mary Rose Dains, Carolyn Hauger, Renae Carsrud, and Lizanne Bute.
