Gilbert Stubbs, Jr. quietly slippe away from us peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 23, 2012.Born on September 25, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA, Gilbert was rhe second born of the late Gilbert Sr., and Arlene Stubbs. Better known as "Gerb" to some and "Gilbey" to others, he grew up in Glen Hazel and graduated grom Schenley High School in 1973. He then served in the Armed Forces, and after 4 years was honorably discharged. Gil married Jeanine Marshall in 1976 shortly after the birth of Gilbert III,(Tuke) in 1975 and Tiffany Lynn was born in 1979.In 1995 he was united in marriage to Debra V. Nixon and was a loving step father to her son Tyrone.Most recently, Gil retired from the State of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry as an unemployment supervisor. He will be most remembered for his vibrant and bubbly personality, his gift of always making people laugh and his fierce protection of his family - his pride and joy. Gil was arguably the Steelers #1 fan, and faithfully watched their games with family and friends - always dcked out head to toe in black and gold. This eas one of his favorite pastimes. Other pastimes were playing backgammon with his friends and having a good time. He loved politics and would often spend his Sunday afternoons watching political TV shows (in the Steelers' off-season, of course!).Those Gil leaves to celebrate his life and cherish wonderful memories are; His loving wife Debra; children, Gilbert III(son, Jaxson Stubbs) and Tiffany Lynn Stubbs; stepson Tyrone K. Nixon(Lisa)and children Kaliyah, Noah, Anthony and Carlos;sisters; Marie Stubbs(daughter, Cierra Stitt), Patricia Bogle(daughters, Danielle and Tamesa Gray and late son, Ira Gray) and Cynthia Coates(daughter, Briona Coates and son , Vaughn Coates); the children who knew him as "Pap Pap"; DeVon,Allison, Tyrell and Terrell Childs, Keyonda Robinson and Shariece Scott and a host of other family and friends.
