Giuseppina "Enza"'s Obituary

Giuseppina “Enza” (Signorelli) Latina, 85, of Wethersfield, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She joins her beloved late husband, Sebastiano “Iano” Latina, whom she was married to for 65 years.

Born on August 11, 1939 in Floridia, Province of Siracusa, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Angela (Tiralongo) Signorelli. At the age of 15, she made the brave journey to this country with her parents and her brother and they made Connecticut their home. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Sebastiano, and together they built a beautiful life and close-knit family. A hard worker, she worked as a talented seamstress and later in manufacturing to help provide for her family.

Cooking and baking for those she loved were her passions. Every visit or holiday was an opportunity to prepare traditional Italian dishes and desserts to share with family and friends. Her delicious cookies always brought joy to those lucky enough to experience her kindness and generosity. Nothing made her happier than bringing people together to enjoy delicious food, share laughter, and treasure every moment spent together.

Enza, an active member in the Italian community, took great pride in her heritage, culture, and traditions. She was an original member of the Italian American Stars Women's Club and served as corresponding secretary for 28 years, planning many memorable events. She was also a passionate member of the Floridian Ladies Society, Sons of Italy, and the Italian American Ladies Society. She was recognized for her contributions to the Italian-American community as the proud recipient of the Columbus Day Honoree Award in 2018. Through these organizations, she created lasting and meaningful friendships that became an extension of her family.

Family was everything to Enza. She was the heart of her family, a pillar of strength, compassion, and unconditional love. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she would do anything for them. She will lovingly be remembered by her three children and their spouses, Annie (Salvatore) LoGiudice, Angela (Joseph) Giliberto, and Anthony (Jodi) Latina. Enza was a proud and doting Nonna to her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Cristina, Luke, Paul, Zoe, and Andrew, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Paula Signorelli of Cromwell, and sister-in-law, Anna Sala of Floridia, Italy as well as several nieces and nephews in both the United States and Italy. She was predeceased by her brother, Mario Signorelli, from Cromwell, and her sister-in-law, Lucia LoGiudice from Floridia, Italy. Additionally, she leaves many dear cousins and friends that meant the world to her.

Her steadfast devotion to family and friends, unwavering spirit, and her gift for bringing people together will be deeply missed by all who love her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10a.m. directly in Church of the Incarnation, Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield.
