Larry was born August 28, 1934, to Gusta Lee Stallard & Leta (Dougherty) Stallard. He graduated from Midway High School before joining the United States Air Force and being stationed in Amarillo, Texas. There he met his wife of 68 years, Emburta (Miller) Stallard. Larry was a classroom teacher, administrator and counselor at various schools in the Amarillo school district, with the majority of his years at Amarillo High School.
When he retired from teaching, he moved back to his native Scott County, Virginia. He and Emburta built their own home with help from family and friends in the Midway community. He was active in the Midway Memorial United Methodist Church for many years as well as helping to support the Ft Blackmore Camp. He loved having his children and grandchildren visit them “in the woods”, enjoying hikes, cookouts and family gatherings.
