May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Rest in peace

We loved Gert so much! She was a heck of a woman and will definitely be missed❤

Gert taught me how to be “cool” my freshman year.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Such sad news. Prayers for all the family. My family and I have lots of memories of Gert. She was always herself. You either loved her or didn't understand her. She will be missed.

She was one of the greatest people I ever got the honor to meet and I love her and I will miss her

A most beautiful lady and legend will always be dearly remembered.

Glenda's Obituary

Glenda Jean Hunt, lovingly known as “Gert” passed away January 11, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on May 27, 1941, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to the family of Lester Clyde and Lollie Mae Thomas Hunt. Shortly after her birth, the family returned to their roots in Arkansas, where Gert attended the public schools in Brinkley, and graduated with the class of 1959.

When studies came to an end, Gert secured a position with Phillips Van Heusen in Brinkley, then as the Manager for Ronnie Melvin at the Wheatley Truck Stop Restaurant.  From there, she began working for Melvin and Hardwick and in 1986, purchased the Tiny Tots Children's store. However, Gert was well-known for her strength and grit as the owner and operator of Gert's Liquor Store located in Brinkley.

Through the years, she became a pillar of her community and left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Gert was a woman of faith, wisdom, and strength. She helped shape the lives of many local youth during her years as the coach for the Bluejays girl’s softball team from 1977-1984.

She also enjoyed many different hobbies that included watching movies, playing cards and listening to Elvis. During her youth, Gert was raised in the Baptist faith and attended times of worship with her family at the Hunter Baptist Church.

Gert was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Clyde Hunt (1987) and Lollie Mae Thomas Hunt (1984); sisters, Joyce Hunt Henard (2026), Mable Hunt Rogers (2024), and Ernestine Faye Hunt Melvin (2006); and brothers, Wendell Udell Hunt (2019) and Billy Joe Hunt (1995)

Gert is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members, who all loved her dearly.
