Glenda Lyn Whitson was born on July 6, 1965, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Alonzo and Evelyn Brown. Glenda lived a life marked by dedication to her work, love for her family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought her happiness.
A proud graduate of Marvell High School in the Class of 1983, Glenda went on to serve her community with compassion and care as a Certified Nursing Assistant. For eleven years, she worked at Helena Regional Medical Center, where she touched many lives through her commitment to patient care and her gentle presence.
Glenda found joy in life’s quiet pleasures. She loved fishing and tending to her plants, often spending peaceful hours outdoors. She loved spending time with her grandkids and family. She also enjoyed reading and writing in her spare time. Her creativity shone through in the doodles she left behind—small expressions of her vibrant inner world. A devoted collector of Bibles, Glenda cherished the spiritual comfort they brought her.
Glenda passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 60, in Marvell, AR. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Chase (Debra) Whitson of Marvell; Amanda (Joe) Irby of Conway; grandchildren Mackenzy Whitson, Logan Lamp, and Noah Irby; her sister Carol (Eddy) Brackin of Oxford, Mississippi; and companion of 30 years, Lonnie Smith.
Glenda was preceded in death by her brother Alan Brown and sister Freida Bartlett.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May it bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
