Gloria's Obituary

Ms. Gloria Mae Moses, 95, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas.

Visitation Service for Mrs. Moses will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Mercy Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m., with the practice of social distancing and facial masks recommended. The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Moses will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church located at 2725 W. Virginia Street in Beaumont, Texas 77705 with burial service to be held at Live Oak Memorial Park and Cemetery, under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas.

Gloria Mae Moses

Gloria was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on August 5, 1930, to the union of Earl and Florence Henderson.  

Gloria was a beloved wife of the late Clarence "CJ" Julius Moses Jr and a devoted mother to the late Christopher Moses.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings Earl Charles Henderson, Roosevelt Henderson and Dorothy Loeb.

She leaves to cherish in her memory, niece Sheryl Loeb of Compton, California, cousin Shawlene Perry of Flint, Michigan, nephew Michael Yowman (Sondra Faye) of Beaumont, Texas, Andrea Yowman of Pearland, Texas, Patrick Yowman of Rosenberg Texas, Karen Yowman of Friendswood, Texas, Ken Yowman (Jane) of Port Arthur, Texas, Demetria Yowman of Houston, Texas; Barbara Polk (Robert) of Port Arthur, Texas, Leonard Ray of Port Arthur, Texas, Kenneth Ray of Tacoma,  Washington, and Steven Ray of Port Arthur, Texas, and longtime family friend Lawrence Walker of Beaumont, Texas, Carolyn West Hawthorne of College Station, Texas, along with extended family and friends who loved her dearly. 

Gloria earned her Bachelor and Master degrees from Prairie View A&M University and dedicated her life to education. She began her 30+ year career as a classroom teacher of Special Education & Deaf Education for BISD (Fletcher and Roy Guess Elementary) and retired as a school principal.  She believed strongly in nurturing young minds and making a lasting difference in the lives of her students and colleagues.

Gloria outstanding achievements include “Council of Exceptional Children-1982”, Outstanding School Principal -1981”, “Meeting the Student Challenge- Prairie View A&M University Foundation”. 

She was a committed member of the Beaumont Association of Top Ladies of Distinction and worked tirelessly to uplift others through mentorship and outreach

Gloria was a woman of deep faith and was a devoted member of Greater Good Hope Baptist Church.  

Gloria will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt, educator, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and strength touched many lives. 

Her legacy of faith, education, and service will live on in all who knew and loved her.
