I’m reflecting on the great memories of Uncle Gordon and all the family. Remembering his kindness, humor, and his aptitude at horseshoes! As a child I remember him making life fun, as an adult I found him an inspiration. His impression will always be with me. These memories are as vibrant now as if it were 40+ years ago. Thanks, Uncle Gordon, for all the love you shared..

Attica - Gordon Raymond Foster, 91, Attica, passed away at his residence, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 4:02 a.m. Gordon was born in Hillsdale, in Vermillion County, Indiana on March 15, 1933. He was the son of the late William Edgar Foster and Sarah Matilda (Ayres) McMasters. Gordon was raised in Hillsdale and in 1942 moved to Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1951. Gordon worked as a crane operator for ALCOA in Lafayette for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Following his retirement, he and his wife Martha managed the Lake Charlarose campground near Hillsboro from 1989-1994. Gordon was a ALCOA 25 year club member. In his pastime he enjoyed fishing and camping. He enjoyed the outdoors and raised a vegetable garden for years. He enjoyed taking care of the campground where he enjoying mowing the grounds. He liked to tinker on old cars and passed that trait on to other family members. Gordon married Martha E. Lefton on March 28, 1953 in Williamsport. They have been married for over 71 years. Besides his wife, Martha, he leaves behind three children, Gordon Raymond (Terri) Foster, Naples, FL; Donald Eugene (Vicki) Foster, Williamsport and Connie Sue (Brent) Sichts, Attica; eleven grandchildren, Ami Lynn (Dustin) McDaniel; Brittani Renee (Dennis) Quesada; Devin Eugene (Brianna) Foster; Jeremiah (Heather) Neef; Zachary Dean (Kandi) Neef; Cody (Joanna) Sichts; Casie (Clint) Farley; Brian (Jennie Laurer) Haddock; Christopher Haddock; Kim (Rich) Swann; Marc Werner; thirty-one great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Sandy Houston, Creve Coeur, IL and Susan Bushell, Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Edward Foster and five sisters, Rosella Conte, Louise Stepan, Evelyn Chinn, Betty Ann Gayler, and Karen Smith. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, August 20th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Hunter Chadwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
