Not sure what to say?

The only thing we take to the grave is LOVE ! Gordon will be taking so much more then most. Sending prayers and love. To a truly wonderful man, husband and father. God bless.

So very sad to hear of Gordy´s passing. I, like others who have posted comments here, knew Gordy from the FAA Anchorage Air Route Traffic Control Center. He was a professional, dedicated to providing service, and was a wonderful employee, coworker, instructor, and always had a smile and a cheerful word. The world needs more folks like Gordy Morgan. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Gordy's passing. He was one of the "Good Guys" and I always appreciated his time, energy and coaching expertise he gave to our Sioux Falls Flyers Hockey players. Thoughts and prayers to all of you - we have lost one of the best!

Gordy was “ my favorite son in law”. He was always good and thoughtful to me, and he loved teasing me. I am going to miss him terribly. He was an exceptional father, husband and grandfather. He loved his neighbors, and would do anything for them.Rest in peace Gordy. We all love you.

We feel so blessed to have known Gordy and to spend some great memories together. He was a life force. Our family sends our love to Cindy, Tyler, Mary and to all of Gordy's family and extended family/friends.

Gordy was such a special person. He made such an impression on everyone he encountered. He just loved giving back by working at the MEPS. The kids at the schools loved him and the staff asked for him by name. His positive personality was infectious and we were blessed to have known him. He was a leader and role model for all. He will be dearly missed.

I was saddened to read about Gordy. He was someone I always admired and respected. ZAN was never the same after he left. May God comfort you. Respectfully, Nell Arvites

Gordy was an absolute legend in my eyes. Magnificent controller and coach to so many people. I will always remember his kindness, sense of humor, and integrity as hallmarks of a wonderful man. He will be missed.

Gordon's Obituary

Gordy Morgan, 64, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away at his home on September 23, 2025. He knew the Lord and was rooted in his faith in Jesus.

Gordy was born on February 13, 1961, in Garvin, Minnesota. He was the son of Donna Wirtjes. He graduated from Milroy High School in 1979. Gordy worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller in Anchorage until he retired in 2017. He was a member of Anchorage Lutheran Church in Alaska and Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

On December 10, 1987, Gordy married the love of his life, Cindy, in Eagle River, Alaska. Their family was blessed with two children, Tyler and Nicholas. Gordy and Cindy called Anchorage, Alaska, home for more than 25 years before moving to Sioux Falls in 2017. They shared 37 years of marriage.

Gordy was a pillar in every community he was a part of. He took great pride in building relationships, dedicating endless hours of his time to others, and prioritizing the needs of others over his own. He served the hockey community in Alaska for over 20 years and has helped countless young boys and girls create memories through the game of hockey that will last long after his time on this earth.

Gordy enjoyed spending time in his driveway. Gordy’s driveway became a hub for so many families in Sioux Falls. He insisted that everyone stop by and stay for as long as they could. There was never a friend of his who ever had an empty glass under his watch. He loved the people in his life with a fierce passion, and there wasn’t a person he knew that he didn’t try to serve in any way he could. Gordy had time for everyone. He especially enjoyed spending time with and spoiling his two grandsons, Brantley and Brooks. Gordy will forever be remembered by his friends and family as a caring man who loved everyone with everything he had. He put others first from the time his feet hit the floor in the morning to the time he lay his head down at night.

Gordy is survived by his Wife, Cindy; his son, Tyler, and Tyler’s wife, Dana. Nephews, Mitchell, CJ, and Cody; Nieces, Briana, Emma, Stephanie, and Casey. Grandsons, Brantley and Brooks.

Gordy is preceded in death by his son Nicholas, his mother Donna; brother Jim; Uncle Ted, Aunt and Uncle Judy, and Skip.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 30 from 5-7 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, October 1 at 10 am, also at Faith Lutheran Church with interment at Bethany Cemetery, Currie, MN.

In lieu of flowers, Gordy would want everyone to open their garage door, grab a lawn chair, and take the time to visit with a friend.
