Not sure what to say?

John and I are so very sorry for your loss! Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn. I so enjoyed your dad's periodic calls and the visit we had a couple years ago. My dad is going to miss those Sunday call too! Sincerely Dede

Gordon's Obituary

Gordon Terrell “Terry” Pitcock, 86, of San Antonio, Texas and formerly Fairbury, Illinois, passed from this world on August 3, 2025.

Terry was born in Glasgow, Kentucky to Aelic and Georgia (Houchins) Pitcock, joining his sister Nancy. The family settled first near Wing and then near Fairbury, Illinois where Terry graduated from Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School. Terry enrolled at Illinois State Normal University with the intention of pursuing a career as a mathematics teacher. However, an Air Force recruiter convinced him to join up. He served as a linguist and was stationed in Turkey for a time, where he monitored and interpreted Russian communications.

Following his honorable discharge from military service in 1963, he accepted a position as an accountant with Country Companies in Bloomington, Illinois, where he continued a 32-year career until retirement. It was there that he met Linda Lou (Ross) when she came to deliver mail to his desk. He asked her out and they were married the following January 3, 1964. They welcomed three children: Sue Ellen Moffett of San Antonio, Gordon Terrell Pitcock, Jr., of San Antonio and Corbitt Michael Pitcock (Melissa) of Wylie, Texas. Later came five grandchildren: Devan Moffett of San Antonio, Rebecca Lazaro (Joe) of Justin, Texas, Gavin Enderlin (Natalie) of Richardson, Texas, Rachel Pitcock (Alex Vargas) of Austin and Kyle Moffett who preceded his grandfather in death.

Also preceding him in death are his parents, wife Linda, and sister Nancy Ifft.

While he lived in Illinois, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and meeting friends for coffee at the McDonald’s Family Restaurant in Fairbury. After moving to Texas, he took pleasure in working out at the gym and spending time with the friends he made there.

Terry chose cremation, and his ashes will be respectfully sealed in a salt urn and interred in the ocean, alongside his wife Linda and grandson Kyle, near the shores of Mustang Island in the Gulf.

He is loved and will be greatly missed.
