Grace "Peg" Shaum

Grace “Peg” Shaum, age 88, of Elkhart, Indiana, died on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 3:00am at Majestic Care of South Bend.  She was born on November 19, 1937 to Raymond and Blanche (Veatch) Nelson in Bremen, Indiana.  Peg was a graduate of Concord High School and married Larry Shaum on September 16, 1956.  He preceded her in death on July 11, 2009.  Peg was as homemaker and also volunteered at the Food Pantry in Elkhart.  She is survived by 2 sons, Doug Shaum of Elkhart, and Mark (Misty) Shaum of Romeoville, IL; a sister, Marilyn Mann of Goshen; and many nieces and nephews.  Peg was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jim and Jack Nelson; and 6 sisters, Dorothy Pletcher, Betty Buss, Arlene Buss, Jean Douglas, Tonia Jo Harris, and Sheila Kirts.  Cremation will take place per Peg’s request, and there will be no services at this time.  Memorials can be made in Peg’s name to the donor’s choice.
