Grant Richard (Dick) Oscarson

Visited “his” chapel this past weekend, and thought of him and his family. How I wish I could say hello again.

I was one of many missionaries, in Sweden, blessed by your parents and your family. President and Sister Oscarson changed my life in so many ways—spiritual, mental, emotional, physical. President Richard Oscarson set a huge example of Christ-Like ministry for the missionaries called to the Sweden Stockholm Mission. I am forever blessed to have served under his leadership during those years in Sweden.

Dear Oscarson Family, our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go thru this very tender time of your father’s passing. He was our Bishop when we moved to MO and we all have special memories of him, your beautiful mother and family. It was so fun to visit with them when we were serving a mission in Nauvoo in 2013. Dick and Linda were such a wonderful part of our family. They were always welcoming at their home and especially Linda kept me updated on what everyone in the family was doing. I will miss them both.

Forever part of my life's history, Dick was my first mission president. I remember our interviews, his beautiful handwriting on transfer assignments. He was kind with great faith in us to build the Kingdom when we were barely adults.

Our family sends our deepest love and remembrances at this recent passing of our beloved friend, Dick Oscarson. One of my very favorite people. President Oscarson was my Stake President when I left for, and returned from, my mission. Always kind, funny, and inspiring. I'm sure he's happy to be reunited with his sweet wife. I know he will be busy serving others in heaven, just as he was on earth.
