Gregory E. Gore, died September 21, 2025. He was born on December 2, 1953 in Colorado to Mary Contreau and then adopted by Harold and Mollie Sammons Gore. He joined the Navy and traveled the world before settling in Hampton. Gregory spent over 2 decades in Naval service and devoted his career to Surface Warfare where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 23 years. Following his Navy retirement he went to work for Newport News Shipbuilding in 2001 as a Nuclear Quality Assurance Officer. Gregory loved photography and was a member of the Virginia Professional Photographers Association as well as other local photography groups. He was the owner of Tradewynds Productions. His love for photography inspired his hobbies of drones and RC vehicles. He was also a music lover.
Gregory was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Emory; and his mother, Mary Contreau. He is survived by his wife, Elise Gore; sister, Janice Dawson; children, Gabrielle, Julie, and Claire; 10 grandchildren; niece, Kaitlyn and her three children.
The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 2-4PM. Interment in Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery will follow at a later date with full Navy Honors.
