GREG, Fought a Good Fight!
Gregory McCarty was born on March 15, 1957, in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Oliver and Aurelia (nee' Collins) McCarty.
As a child growing up in the country (Westbury), Greg developed a love for country living, including cooking, fishing, spending time outdoors, and family get-togethers. As a teenager, he developed skills working in his parents' grocery stores in the South End and in the Pear Orchard neighborhoods of Beaumont.
He completed his education in Beaumont, Texas. He entered the Army, completed his service, and came home after being honorably discharged. After the Army, he worked alongside his daddy in the trucking business and became an excellent truck driver. Greg loved being a "Trucker", taking pride and being passionate about being a truck driver, so much so that he was still working as a truck driver until the time of becoming too ill to work and his taking his final breath on January 17, 2026, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Loving memories of Greg are left to his children: Michelle Stennett (Jacoby), Kelly McCarty, Joseph Gregory McCarty (Brooke), Ahmad McCarty (Keyola), and Angel Caleb (Nicholas); grandchildren: Treasure, Madison, Kingston, Ameya, Joey, Charlie, Ahmad Jr., Aiden, Ayanis, Nicholas, Gavin, and Harper; sisters: Yolanda Roberts (Oneal), Sonji McCarty-Onezine (Michael), and Kimberly Fenner; special friends: Shelia and Wilbert Mire. Also a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, bonus children and bonus grandchildren, friends, and other relatives.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Aurelia (Collins) McCarty; his paternal grandparents, Willie and Mary McCarty; his maternal grandparents, Victory and Hazel Collins; his grandson, Giavon Ira Curly August; his nephew, Bryon McCarty Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Mical Fenner.
