Gregory's Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Pylypiak, age 88, of Yardvillle, New Jersey on Thursday November 6, 2025. Born in Holohory, Zolochiv, Ukraine, Gregory lived a life defined by faith, family, and service. He was a proud United States Army veteran, having honorably served his country where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Gregory continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserves for over 36 years, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to his nation and his fellow servicemen. Gregory was a devoted member of many community organizations, including the German American Club, St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, and the Ukrainian American Veterans of New Jersey, Post #25.

Predeceased by his parents Onunphryj and Catharine Pylypiak, Sister Christine Gomola and Brother Walter Pylypiak. Gregory is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anna Pylypiak three children: Gregory Jr. and Lyubov Pylypiak of Ewing, New Jersey; Natalie Baker and Christopher Kearns of Holgate, New Jersey; and Michael and JoAnne Pylypiak of North Hanover, New Jersey. He was a proud grandfather to Anthony and Lisa Baker of Park City, Utah; Samantha Baker and Jake Thatcher of San Diego, California; Nickole and David Shoults of Savahanna, Georgia; Roman and Krystyna Stefinko Ewing, New Jersey; Iryna and Igor Gryniv of Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Gregory was also a very proud great-grandfather to Diana Stefinko; Andrew and Brianna Gryniv; Lucas, Evan and Patrick Baker.

In his professional life, Gregory worked at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst where he was a Master Mason, Construction Supervisor, and ultimately retiring as a base Building Inspector. He took great pride in his craftsmanship, leadership, and dedication to his work. He loved fishing at the Jersey Shore with his son Greg and treasured family outings to the beach, a beloved tradition spanning more than 60 years. Gregory delighted in sharing his joy of airplanes and military life with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passing along his stories, knowledge, and enthusiasm for service.

Gregory will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his strong faith, his generosity, his pride in his Ukrainian heritage, and his dedication to his country. His kindness, humor, and devotion to those he loved will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation on Sunday, November 16th from 3pm-6pm (5pm Parastas/Panakhyda Service) at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ 08501.Funeral Liturgy on Monday, November 17th @ 11am at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1195 Duetz Ave, Trenton, NJ 08611 followed by burial at St. Vladimir Orthodox Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson, NJ 08527.
