Gumersindo "Rufus" Padron

Gumersindo “Rufus” Padron Alvarez, 67, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

A Vigil service will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

Rufus was born on January 13, 1958 in Mojarras de Arriba, Mexico to Silvestre Padron Flores and Pantaleona Alvarez Martinez.  He worked in the construction field all his life, and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Rufus was a hard worker who provided for his family.  He loved listening to music, was an excellent cook, and loved baseball.

He was preceded in death by his father, Silvestre Padron Flores; his loving wife, Diane Padron; and two sisters, Maria de Jesus Padron Alvarez, and Reyna Padron Alvarez.

He is survived by his mother, Pantaleona Alvarez Martinez; his son, Miguel Algel Padron Cardenas; his daughter, Fabiola Padron Cardenas; his grandchildren, Estefania Padron Cardenas, Dana Paola Mendoza Padron, Cristian Alexis Mendoza Padron, and Adolfo Tadeo Mendoza Padron; great-grandson, Willem Jacob Monrroy Padron; his siblings, Juana Padron Alvarez, Arturo Padron Alvarez, Ma Guadalupe Padron Alvarez, Enrique Padron Alvarez, and Inocencia Padron Alvarez; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
