Guy Elwood Childs, Jr. was born July 23, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Guy and Gertrude Childs. Mr. Childs was a Linthicum resident who proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church where he participated in the men's church work group. He was a member of the American Legion, various hunting clubs and the National Rifle Association. In his free time he enjoyed running, and ran a cumulative of over 17,000 lifetime miles, he was an avid hunter, loved nature and the outdoors and loved his country. Above all else he had a profound love for his family. Left to cherish his memory are children Kenneth E. Childs of Arbutus, Nancy L. Sala of Delaware, Judith A. Childs of Oklahoma, Barbara J. Kinsey of Linthicum, Susan B. Goralski and husband Jerry of Severna Park, Sharon K. Matula and husband Eric of Pasadena, brother Robert L. Childs, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Lucille Childs and his sister Phyllis Dixon. Mr. Childs passed away May 9, 2018 at the age of 91, at Harbor Hospital Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W. Maple Rd., Linthicum, MD 21090. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
