Gwendolyn Sue Jenner, 89, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away January 17, 2026, at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, Indiana.
She was born in Highland, Illinois, on November 3, 1936, to the late Clem and Cora Spanley. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1954 and was married to Michael Earl Futrell from 1959 until his death in 1967.
In 1968, she moved to Henderson, Kentucky, to be closer to extended family and married Donald Allen Jenner in 1969. They lived in Henderson and were members of The Presbyterian Church of Henderson until they moved to South Bend, Indiana, in the fall of 2025, to be closer to their daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as her health was declining.
Gwen was a bookkeeper for the Henderson County Schools for more than 25 years and an ardent supporter of Henderson County High School sports and the marching band. She had a generous spirit, not only supporting her church and many charities, but also quietly funding the education of several underprivileged students over the years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cross stitching, and playing board games with her family – especially delighting in winning at Scrabble. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed celebrating their birthdays with ornate cards, thoughtful gifts, and special desserts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Clementine, Charlene, Gloria, and Jacqueline.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allen Jenner; her daughter, Laura Seng (Phil) of South Bend, Indiana; her three grandchildren, Aaron Seng (Hayley) of South Bend, Indiana, Justin Seng of Chicago, Illinois, and Jenny Marchi (Antonio) of South Bend, Indiana; and eight great-grandchildren, Gianna-Marie, Felicity, Ambrose, Elizabeth, Joseph, and John Seng and Mariella and Simeon Marchi, all of South Bend, Indiana.
A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson, Kentucky. The Reverend Eric Hoey of The Presbyterian Church of Henderson will officiate. Burial will be at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, Indiana, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
