H. Gordon Grimditch, 90, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. Born in Media, PA on June 22, 1924 he lived in Media his entire life until 2010 when he moved to Bethlehem to live with his daughter. He graduated from Media High School in 1942. Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a veteran, having served with the 702nd Military Police Battalion and with the 3542nd Quarter Master Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a General Contractor for 20 years. During this time he served as the Building Inspector for the Borough of Media on a part-time basis. In 1976 he retired from his business and became the full-time Code Enforcement Officer and Assistant Secretary for the Borough. In 1990 he was appointed Borough Secretary/Code Enforcement Officer until his retirement in 1994. After retirement he continued to serve on the Media Borough Planning Commission. Gordon was a long time member of Broomall's Lake Country Club, serving on the Board of Directors, Pennsylvania Plumbing Inspectors Association, Pennsylvania Building Officials Conference, and the Building Officials and Code Enforcement Administrator International. He has received many awards through the years including the Media Old Timers Hall of Fame for Baseball, the Bi-Centennial Award, and Public Service Award.Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Jean Beatty Grimditch who died in 2005. Survivors: He is survived by his two daughters, Diane G. Kennedy of Bethlehem, PA and Gloria G. McDonald of Richmond, VA; his sons in law John J. Kennedy and James M. McDonald, his three Grandsons, David L. Jones, Jr. and wife Judi, Matthew J. Ladd and wife Kimberly, and Mark G. Kennedy, and his three Great Grandchildren Mackenzie Ladd, Derek Jones and Jacob Jones.Services: Calling hours will be held at J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, 1 W. Baltimore Ave. Media, PA Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday 10-10:30AM Funeral Service 10:30 AM.
