Harley Junior Smith, “Jr.”, 77 of Burkburnett, TX, passed away on Saturday, March 7th 2026.
Jr. was born on September 3, 1948 in Grant, Alabama to Harley Edward Smith and Lizzie B. Bevel. Grant is where he was raised. He lived within a 30-mile radius for all but five years of his life.
Jr. was employed by the John Blue Tractor Company in Huntsville, Alabama. He worked hard and had several different positions as he moved up in the company. His last position was Warehouse Manager. He was with John Blue Tractor until 1986 when he retired.
He loved to go fishing, grow vegetable gardens, repair and clean antique clocks, visit with friends, and most of all being with the love of his life, Valerie Smith.
He will be remembered for his kindness and sharing his life’s stories.
Jr. is survived by his sister, Frances Bell and husband Jerry of Pisgah, Alabama; step son Paul Terry and wife Ann of Burkburnett; step-daughter, Stephanie Murr and husband Todd of Bear Creek, Alabama; grandchildren, Devaney Shoemaker and husband Tyler of Dean, Texas, Kristen Billingsley and husband Patrick of Florence, Alabama, Isaiah Terry and wife Haley of Rockwall, Kimberlyn Campbell and husband Austin of Haleyville, Alabama, Sean Terry of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kaleb Murr of Bear Creek, Alabama; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
An intimate celebration of life will be held for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, Jr. donations may be made in Jr.’s name to Burkburnett Meals on Wheels.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Sheridan Medical Lodge in Burkburnett for the care, kindness, and joy they brought into his life. The companionship he found there meant a great deal to him and to our family. Your compassion and dedication are appreciated more than words can fully express.
Jr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
