Not sure what to say?

Here it is 2023...and I have just read the obituary of Bro. DeLaMare....he and Sister DeLa Mare were two of the finest people that I ever knew ! He was a bishop of our ward, like my Dad, Timothy Morley was...Us Morley girls, Vivian, Annette, Dorothy( myself) and our Down Syndrome brother, Timmy, were raised in the ward. I knew that he and sister DeLaMare and family had moved to Texas....and were so sad to see them go! I am sure that they have had a wonderful reunion in the world of spirits!...

Dearest Carolyn, Michelle, Diane, Mary, Denise, Philip, Jan and all your beautiful family,
My most profound memories are of your father as, not only my Stake President, but of him and you, Carolyn, as good friends for me and our family. Your children ~ all your girls and Philip were our best friends, greatest role models and most loving brothers and sisters as we joined and learned to grow in this Church.
I just found that Harold had passed through the veil and it made me very sad...

Thank you for all the amazing memories. Love you Uncle Harold.

Carolyn and family, I am so sad to hear of this news. Harold always made me smile when I took care of him for many years. I will truly miss him. Mary King from DDS office

Harold's Obituary

Harold Elison De La Mare was born August 5, 1922 in Burley, Idaho, the son of Theo George and Edna Myrtle Elison De La Mare, and brother to Byron.  He was raised in Tooele, Utah, studied chemistry at Utah State, and then earned his Ph.D. in chemistry at Purdue University.  He met Carolyn Johnson in Berkeley, California, and they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1952.  Together they raised five daughters and a son, and Harold said his family was “the joy of my life.”  Harold spent most of his career as a chemist for Shell Development while also serving in various capacities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He loved serving in the church, and after he retired from Shell, he was thrilled to be called to serve as a mission president with his wife Carolyn in the Singapore Mission.  He also served with Carolyn as first counselor and assistant matron in the Dallas, Texas Temple presidency, and as the first president and matron of the Houston, Texas temple.  Perhaps one of the church callings he loved most was that of a home teacher. His testimony was this:  “I know that our Heavenly Father lives and loves us...that Jesus is the living Christ and presides over this Church today through a living prophet.” Harold is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Michelle (David) De La Mare Nelson, Dianne De La Mare, Mary (Scott) De La Mare-Schaefer, Denise (Emilio)  De La Mare Martinez, Philip (Shauna) De La Mare, and Janette De La Mare; his 13 grandchildren Philip (Michelle) Nelson, Amy (Ryan) Nelson Scoville, Andrew Nelson, Brett Nelson, Camie (Erin) Schaefer, Sandy Schaefer, Katie Schaefer, Kelley Schaefer, Amelia Martinez-DeLaMare, Gabriela (Derek) Reinhardt, Jack (Cassidy) De La Mare, Emma (Chad) De La Mare Craig, Grace De La Mare; and two great grandchildren Philip and Kendall Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and granddaughter, Aria De La Mare.

Interment on January 4, 2018 at Klein Memorial Park. Memorial service on January 13, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 12310 New Hampton Drive, Tomball, Texas.
