Not sure what to say?

Dear Sylvia, I believe you are the same one who lived on Martin Rd. in Reading. If so, I am sorry to read about your husband's passing. Also, you must have been the friend of my sister, Nancy. She passed away in 2012 in Arizona. I am 90 yrs. old and live in Shapleigh, Maine since 2010. There are only 3 of us left out of 9, me, brothers Joe and Roy.

This book of memories is to serve as a record of the services you entrusted to us. We hope it will help to preserve treasured memories and that we, in some small measure, have helped to ease your burden and bring you comfort.

Harold's Obituary

Harold R. Reicker, a resident of Reading for 68 years, passed away on July 10, 2025, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 95 years of age.

Harold was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on June 12, 1930, the son of the late Wilfred and Mae (Martin) Reicker. He grew up in Everett and attended Everett public schools. Following graduation, he attended Newman Preparatory School before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served for two years in the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal before returning home. He then took a Civil Service exam and served with the U.S. Postal Service for many years until he retired.

During his years with the U.S. Postal Service, he attended night classes and graduated from Merrimack College, followed by many years of night classes at Gordon Conwell Theological School in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. Harold will be remembered for his humility and quick wit as well as his vast library. He was known for his Biblical scholarship, and particularly for his wonderful years-long Men’s and Youth Classes at the First Baptist Church of Reading, Massachusetts, where he was a member for nearly six decades.

Harold was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Armstrong) Peterson and was beloved by her own family and sister, Judith Davidson of Reading. He is also survived by three generations of loving cousins including Larry (and Sharry) Andrews of Wakefield, Sandra (and John) Perkins of Bedford, Donna (and Roger) Cullen of Ionia, New York, Robert Martin of Naples, Florida, and Charles Macfarlane of Jackson, Michigan, as well as many dear friends and relatives.

A visitation will be held for Harold on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Douglass Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street), Reading, from 10am-11:45am, and immediately followed at 12:00 noon, by a memorial service at the First Baptist Church, 45 Woburn Street, Reading, MA 01867.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Reading.
