Visiting with Uncle Harry in Moncks Corner, SC 2015-2019

Uncle Harry has been my 2nd father throughout my life, and I am forever grateful for his guidance, support and love! There are not enough words to express how much he has meant to me from my childhood, throughout my adolescence, and as an adult. From a very young age, when he lived in Los Angeles, CA he inspired me to see him as an entrepreneur and businessman who always demonstrated leadership while exemplifying thoughtful care and compassion for others. Harry's Obituary

With heavy hearts yet grateful spirits, we share the passing of our beloved Mr. Harry A. Gethers, who transitioned from this life on Friday, March 21, 2025. He lived 100 incredible years, leaving behind a legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and love that will forever be cherished.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy and United States Army, Mr. Gethers honorably served during World War II and the Korean War, demonstrating unwavering courage and dedication to his country. He was also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., exemplifying the values of achievement and brotherhood in every aspect of his life.

After many years in Los Angeles, CA, where he built a successful business, Gethers Enterprises, he returned home to Moncks Corner, SC, carrying his entrepreneurial spirit into real estate. He was a man of wisdom, resilience, and vision—qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. He was also the widower of the late Mrs. Gail Gethers, with whom he shared a beautiful life.

Harry’s presence was a gift to our family and community, and though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will continue to guide us.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts: his devoted siblings, Joseph James (Flora) Gethers and Alma G. Brown; sisters-in-law, Carrie Wright, Evelyn L. Gethers and Mattie A. Gethers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving caregivers, along with dear family members and friends who treasured him.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Rev. Octavius A. Gethers Jr., Francis Wright, David A. Gethers and Ethel G. Davis.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gethers Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends during this time. A second viewing will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at Mt. Carmel AME Church, 1059 Old Black Oak Road, Moncks Corner, SC. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. There will be no viewing after the service. Interment will be in the church's cemetery.

The family will not be receiving friends at his residence but welcomes your presence at the funeral home on Sunday during the scheduled viewing and receiving hours.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed on our funeral home's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh

As we prepare to celebrate his incredible journey, we humbly ask that you keep the Gethers Family in your thoughts and prayers. Uncle Harry touched so many lives—now, we honor the legacy he leaves behind.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." – Matthew 25:21
