Harry Scot Lehrer, 57, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, with the love of his life Debbie, and bulldog, Winnie by his side. Scot was born on January 5, 1968, in Queens, NY. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School, and attended Queens College with a focus on Business Management. All his New York friends and family know him by his first name Harry, but when he moved to Virginia in 1992, he decided to go by his middle name, Scot.
In New York, he started his management career with Wendy’s and throughout his lifetime worked in a variety of service industry jobs, which included 7-11. He made lifelong friends almost everywhere he worked. In 2004 he joined Sprint. He started with sales, and moved up to assistant manager, and then in 2023, he was named manager of the new T-Mobile store in Gloucester. Scot went above and beyond marketing his store, working with the community, doing volunteer work, and getting to know the area. Scot hand-picked his staff and he built a great team that he was very proud of. Even while he was out, they continued to make him proud. During his 20+ year career with Sprint/T-Mobile, Scot was a 10-time Pinnacle Club winner, which included 4 beautiful vacations.
Scot loved traveling. He and Debbie have been on many adventures during their 23 years together. Scot also loved to cook. Over the years he had created many of his own delicious recipes. He was an avid Rockband player and made many friends online. He was able to meet some of his Rockband friends and rock out in person. Over the past several years, he has gone on the Rock Legends Cruise, seeing so many of his favorite 80’s bands. He has seen his favorite band, Halestorm, several times in person, and even had a tattoo of their logo, along with the band's signature on each leg. Another favorite tattoo of his was on his arm: “Live life to the fullest; before it’s over!”
Scot is predeceased by his father, Barry Lehrer, his stepfather, Larry Africk, and his grandparents on both sides of the family.
Scot is survived by his wife, Debbie Lehrer; mother, Lynn Africk; sisters, Robin (Vance) Africk, Michele(George) Silva, Lori (Ed) Reich, and Stacey (Xavier) Jimenez; nieces and nephews Bryan (Kristen), Todd (Amanda), and Allison Earwood, Brandon (Brianna) and Justin Silva, and Xavier Jimenez Jr; five great nieces and nephews plus two on the way; aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved dog, Winnie.
A celebration of Scot’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton, 757-825-8070. Please dress casually, no suits and ties required! If you have gone to a concert with Scot, or worked with him, wear concert shirts and/or Sprint/T-Mobile swag. Please be comfortable and casual and wear something that reminds you of Scot. The service will be live streamed from Berceuse's Facebook page, for all his friends and family all over the country. Please click the WATCH NOW button after 10:50 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Native American Heritage Association, www.naha-inc.org or 830-F John Marshall Hwy, Front Royal, VA 22630. Or donate to your favorite charity.
