My personal condolences to Harry's family and specifically to Sue & Jimmy Considine, Leslie & Jeff Hoal. I have found memories of shopping at Williams Market and his Spiedies, when I was a young boy. Also, Harry was a fellow brother within the Pennsylvania Free & Accepted Masonic Fraternity. Harry was a 65 year member of what is now Harford-Warren Lodge No 445 of Hop Bottom PA. He joined the former Warren Lodge No 240 in Montrose back in 1961. Harry became an Entered Apprentice Mason...

So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Working in his market was my first job and I enjoyed your Dad and mom very much. We should all be lucky enough to live life as he did.

Harry Elwin Williams, 99, of Montrose PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 12th, 2026, at Gracious Living Estate in Montrose Pa. He was born in the family home in Rush township to the late Frank and Minnie Mae (Brink) Williams.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma Jean Jayne. Married in 1951, they were inseparable for 73 years. VFW dances, snowmobiling, and playing cards with friends and family were some of their favorite past times. With the help of his brothers Harry built his family home on Ridge Street.
Harry was a proud and loving father to his three daughters and their husbands: Jaynie and Doug King of Medford, NJ; Susan and Jim Considine of Montrose, PA; and Leslie and Jeff Hoal of Montrose, PA. His nine grandchildren — Brian (Lara) King, Stephen (Bri) King, Sean (Amanda) King, Michael (Heather) Considine, Matt (Colleen) Considine, Emily (Ryan Lane) Adams, Cory (Jenn) Adams, Caleb (Victoria) Hoal, and Ben Hoal — each held a special place in his heart, and he was overjoyed to see his family grow with the arrival of twelve great-grandchildren — Ryder, Austin, and Evelyn King, Grace Jurchak, and Aidan O’Shaughnessy, William and Sam Considine, Noah and Ari Brown, Zoe and Parker Adams, S.J. Hoal.
He is also survived by his brother‑in‑law, Lloyd Benscoter of Laceyville, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Harry was reunited in heaven with his sisters Helen Titman, Dee Dee Hantsch, and infant sister Catherine, his brothers Walter, Carl, and Ralph Williams, and his beloved grandson Jackson Considine. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the powerful legacy he leaves within each of us.
On D‑Day, June 6, 1944 — his 18th birthday — Harry entered the United States Navy, serving bravely as a Radioman 3rd Class aboard the USS Broome during World War II. Decades later, one of the greatest honors of his life came at age 90, when he joined an Honor Flight and was chosen to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was a moment that filled him with profound pride and gratitude.
Harry’s humble beginnings encouraged him to dream big. Through determination and hard work, he grew a small storefront on Church Street into a thriving supermarket on Grow Avenue. William’s Market, well‑known in the community, became especially famous for Harry’s beloved Spiedie recipe. After retiring, Harry and Norma enjoyed 25 wonderful years as snowbirds. Even though Harry spent many days on the sunny Florida greens, he was always eager to return to his lifelong friendships at the Montrose Country Club.
At home, Harry was a proud life member of the Ayres‑Stone Post 5642, where he served as Post Commander and took part in countless parades and honor guard details for military funerals. His dedication to service was matched only by his devotion to his family; whether on the sidelines of a game or in the audience at a performance, Harry was always there—cheering them on with pride.
A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Montrose, PA. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with Pastor Rick Schmieg officiating, as we honor a life lived with integrity and immeasurable love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Harry’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, PA — a place that held deep meaning in his life.
