My name is Jennifer Reed Sexton and my brother is Craig Reed. Helen was a very close friend of our mother's from the time she (Joyce Voiles Reed) moved to New River in 1937 at age 15. How she loved talking about all the great times shared with Helen, Ed, & Charles, Virginia Lipscomb, Virginia, Junior, and W. C. Hunt, John Franklin Scates,and others. Helen's Obituary

Helen Virginia Shoemaker age 91 of Oneida, Tennessee passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center.Born in Fitzpatrick, West Virginia on Aug 23, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Edwin Dewitt and Etta Mae Tucker Martin.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Hurstle Shoemaker; daughter, Diane Sue Shoemaker Carlill; grandson, Christopher Wallace Marcum; brothers, Edwin and Charles Martin.Helen is survived by her children, Felecia Gates and husband Larry of Nashville, TN, Josetta McLaughlin and husband Gerry of Arlington Heights, Ill, Floyd Hurstle Shoemaker, II and wife Jenny, Cheryl Butler, Martin Preston Shoemaker and wife Barbara, Christy Ann Marcum and husband Jerry all of Oneida, and Boolie Jean Stephens and husband Tom of Knoxville, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the Shoemaker family on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Oneida with Dr. Doug White officiating.Entombment service will be conducted on Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m. at the Carson Memorial Mausoleum in Oneida.Jones & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Helen Virginia Shoemaker.
