Henry Broyles Jr., affectionately known as "Paw Paw," 83, of Benton Harbor, Michigan slipped quietly away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Health Center, following a brief illness. He was born on August 11, 1931 in Hughes, Arkansas to the union of Henry Broyles Sr. and Fannie Lou Hillard. Henry moved his family to Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1952. Henry was employed at Auto Specialties Production and he retired from there. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He became a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Daniel E. Cook.He is survived by three daughters: Helen (William Earl Sr.) Calhoun, May Williams, all of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Sheila Starling of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sons: Ronald Broyles, Michael (Anniemae) Broyles, Gary (Tonia) Broyles of Sherwood, Illinois; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Claudia Broyles of Kalamazoo, Michigan; brother-in-law, Robert Hampton; two sisters-in-law: Freddie Allen of Benton Harbor, and Annie (Nate) Humphrey of Texas; two special friends: Charles McFall, and Latonia Davis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Blossie; his parents, Henry Broyles Sr. and Fannie Lou Hillard; two sons: Dennis Broyles and Daniel Broyles; several brothers; and two sisters.Services for Henry Broyles Jr. will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 245 Pipestone Street, Benton Harbor, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
