Henry's Obituary

Henry Adrian Gonzalez was born on January 21, 1941 in Brownsville, Texas, and passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 in Quincy, Washington, surrounded by his family.

Henry spent his early childhood in Brownsville, and as a teenager, attended Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi.  In 1960, his family moved to Quincy, Washington-a move that opened a new chapter filled with music, cars, and lifelong memories shared with his brothers and sisters.  Henry loved dancing, playing guitar, and listening to Motown classics and Tejano music- interests that would follow him through every part of life.  He taught his children to appreciate the oldie’s, believing music was essential whenever family gathered.

Henry worked in agriculture, aerospace, and construction before fulfilling his dream of owning a restaurant.  In 1991, he opened El Taco Shop-home of the Super Breakfast Burrito.  His love of cooking and determination to be his own boss helped him to build lasting friendships and share cherished family recipes with his loyal customers.  Sunday mornings were his favorite, when he filled the kitchen with the aroma of homemade menudo and barbacoa.

Our father never lived life in a traditional way; he embraced every twist and turn with energy, curiosity, and heart.  Along the way, he was blessed with three marriages, four sons, two daughters, fifteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children:  Henry (Leticia) Gonzalez, Tumwater, WA., Rick Gonzalez, Yakima, WA., Mike (Annie) Gonzalez, Yakima, WA., Paul (Michele) Gonzalez, Wenatchee, WA., Misty Gonzalez, Quincy, WA., and Mary Ellen (Albert) Castro, Quincy, WA.

Siblings:  Carmen Gonzalez, Tacoma, WA., Tony (Mary) Gonzalez, Edcouch, TX., Jamie (Stuart) Bailey, Palm Desert, CA., Belinda (Joe) Kors, Tacoma, WA., Jessie (Irene) Botello, Austin, TX

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Ponciano and Alicia Botello, and siblings, Aurora Encinas and Charles Sepulveda.  We take comfort in knowing he was welcomed home with open arms and embraced by the angels who went before him.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the care team at The Cambridge Assisted Living and Assured Hospice for the kindness, love, and exceptional care they provided.  Thank you for your dedication and for treating our father like family.

We are deeply grateful for the love and support of our family and friends during this time.
